Sexy '08 Officially Endorses Barack Obama for President

Well in lieu of a Sexiest Person of the Week, Sexy '08 is finally ready to give its much sought-after endorsement for President of the United States. Some of you may have noticed that my co-revolutionary and I are Democrats. We have mentioned this a few times. It should be no surprise, then that Sexy '08 hereby endorses Barack Obama for President.

Nicolle and I are lucky to have been raised in super liberal families. My parents are lifelong Democrats who raised two enlightened and liberal children and also my brother (what up BrYan?). They have been towing the liberal line in weirdly conservative (damn you papists!) Middletown, NJ for as long a I can remember. I have seen my father absolutely lose it in the presence of republic*nts or their propaganda, and honestly, it makes me proud. Nikki's awesome Mom is the head of the local Democratic Party in OOB, ME, and her sister is the only Democrat in greater Cincinnati (win us Ohio, Michelle!). Every phase of our upbringings has prepared us for this moment.

Yet, I have been very slow to embrace Mr. Obama as my candidate. I knew I would vote for the Democratic nominee, but I had hoped for a long time that it would be Hillary Clinton. I believed that Mr. Obama would not do everything it took to win, that he would try to take the high road and miss numerous opportunities to attack his opponent. I know perhaps I should have preferred a candidate whose principles encouraged him to operate his campaign with more optimism and energy. It's just that, I saw this as an absolute must-win election, and I feared that it would take the shadiness of the Clintons to win.

I am delighted, though, with the intelligent and sensitive campaign that Mr. Obama has run. I am also, of course, delighted by his current advantage in the polls. (That sound you hear is me knocking loudly on wood.) It seems that Americans have responded to his message and are impressed with his abundant intelligence. And now Sexy '08 is formally jumping on the bandwagon.

Today, I took advantage of the opportunity to vote early. I realized, as I was participating in the democratic process on my first touch screen voting machine (fun!), that I has not voted in four years: not since crappy John Kerry lost to the worst and dumbest president ever. Let me tell you, it's great to be participating in Democracy again. I used to vote all the time, even for American Idol (go Kimberly Locke!), but the last presidential election left me with a very unSexy feeling. After my Sexy year, voting again felt like I was truly back on track. Now let's all get back on track...by voting for Barack Obama for President!

Answer to Nicolle's question:
Hmm...two actresses? Well, I've always wanted to be friends with Janeane Garofalo...like always. Whenever I see or hear (Weight Watchers voice overs!) Ms. G, I am reminded of her awesome outspokenness and her total Jerseyness. Also, I'd have to say Elisabeth Moss who plays Peggy on Mad Men because I love Peggy and I think we could have a lot of fun, and also I just shut off my cable so I'm gonna miss the last few episodes of the season and I'll bet she could fill me in.

Question for Nicolle:
Besides you, who looked Sexiest at your Sexy 32nd?
